Getting CARRIEd Away With Cupcakes

Posted on: July 15, 2010

So, I’m sure most of you know by now that Carrie Underwood tied the knot this weekend to Ottawa Senator hockey player Mike Fisher.

What I’m sure you probably don’t know is that Carrie’s wedding cake was a cupcake wedding cake! It looks like I’m not the only one getting a little “carried” away with cupcakes!

Her wedding cupcakes were baked by IveyCake in Franklin, Tennessee. Ivey Childers owns the shop, and she is actually the wife of Carrie’s bass player, Mark Childers.

The new People magazine issue hits stands tomorrow and should have photos of her wedding.

As if it was difficult to be jealous of Carrie before, now she got my dream wedding cake!

Lauren,

Ashleigh is having a bunch of girls over tomorrow night and I want to make fun cupcakes….what do you recommend? I want to make them really pretty and colorful. Thanks!
Carrie

Hi Carrie,

For something easy, I would recommend Funfetti mix by Pillsbury. The cake is really colorful since its baked with sprinkles inside, and it’s the best mix I’ve ever tasted. What I did last time I made them, is I put food coloring in the icing. So, if you want them to be really colorful, put frosting in all different bowls and then put food coloring in each one so they are all different colors. I have the best thing to frost my cupcakes that makes them pretty… it’s a mechanical pastry bag from Pottery Barn. I got it for the holidays, and I love it! Let me know if you want to borrow it! I’d be happy to share. I also have a great Martha Stewart cupcake book that has all kinds of fun ideas of cupcakes. You can borrow both if you’d like. Just let me know!

Very true… I have given you many different stories. Who says Publix can’t make my dream wedding cupcake cake though?
